Halwell Mutual is proud to announce the Halwell Hope project – where it is donating $100,000 to multiple causes in local communities across southwestern Ontario. It all started with Farm Mutual Re’s Mutual Support Initiative, which gave Halwell Mutual a generous $41,000 to go towards supporting local charities of choice. The Halwell Mutual Board of Directors generously decided to match that amount, and then, following suit, the Philanthropy Committee decided to put the remainder of its’ annual funds towards this project, allowing for a larger impact for more organizations.
In support of the Philanthropy Committee’s mandate to support organizations and causes in the communities where its policyholders live and work, this project was a perfect opportunity to make a large impact in multiple regions in Ontario and with several impactful causes. The areas of support covered in this project include the health and welfare of families, food security, and social justice issues, with a focus on anti-racism efforts and education and equality efforts in support of the BIPOC communities. President & CEO Marg Torrance is thrilled that Halwell Mutual is making this impact. She says, “I am so grateful for the opportunity to give back to our local communities. By pooling our resources, we are able to make a real impact in several communities across seven amazing organizations”.
The organizations being supported are as follows: True North Aid, Brantford Regional Indigenous Support Centre (BRISC), Guelph Black Heritage Society, Family & Children’s Services Waterloo, Family & Children’s Services Guelph Wellington, Family & Children’s Services Niagara, and Family & Children’s Services Brantford. More information about each organization, as well as the impacts of the donations, will be shared in the coming weeks on Halwell Mutual’s social media accounts.
